SHEIN and Fashion Nova are two of the most-searched fast fashion brands in the U.S., with a combined 423,000 monthly brand searches on Google. Both attract millions of shoppers hunting for a working promo code at checkout — and both consistently rank among the most-visited coupon pages on SimplyCodes.

We analyzed over three years of promo code data from our database of 500,000+ stores to compare the two brands head-to-head: code availability, reliability, discount depth, free shipping, seasonal patterns, and base pricing. The short version? Neither brand is a clean sweep — SHEIN wins on code reliability, Fashion Nova wins on discount depth and free shipping.

Here's what the data shows:

  • SHEIN and Fashion Nova have a combined total of 24 working promo codes between them — 14 for SHEIN, 10 for Fashion Nova
  • SHEIN promo codes pass checkout testing 53% of the time; Fashion Nova codes work 43% of the time
  • Fashion Nova consistently offers deeper percentage-off discounts (up to 30–40% off vs. SHEIN's typical 20–30%)
  • Fashion Nova has offered a free shipping code in roughly 60% of months since mid-2023; SHEIN rarely offers one
  • December is the worst month to shop Fashion Nova for promo codes; May through July is the sweet spot

How SHEIN and Fashion Nova prices compare

Before we get into promo codes, the base pricing matters — because a 30% off code means very different things at each brand.

SHEIN is the cheaper brand by a wide margin. Fashion Nova positions itself a tier above with thicker fabrics and more consistent sizing — particularly for curvy fits. Here's how they compare across common categories:

CategorySHEINFashion Nova
Dresses$10–15$25–35
Jeans$12–20$30–50
Tops$5–12$15–25
10-item cart (typical)~$80–100~$200+
Free shipping thresholdVaries by region/promoOrders over $75
Return policy30 days, original payment (first label free)30 days, store credit only

That price gap changes the math on promo codes. A 20% off code at SHEIN might save you $2–4 per item. A 30% off code at Fashion Nova could save you $9–15 per item. So while Fashion Nova's discounts translate to larger dollar savings per order on a percentage basis, SHEIN is still the cheaper cart at the end of the day — their base prices are low enough that even a modest code lands you a lower total than Fashion Nova with a deeper discount.

How many promo codes does SHEIN and Fashion Nova have?

Both brands keep a healthy number of working promo codes active at any given time. SHEIN currently has 14, Fashion Nova has 10. For fast fashion, that's strong — many retailers in this space have zero to two working codes on a typical day.

The code types break down differently. Fashion Nova's codes are clean, tiered discounts that shoppers can practically memorize: GET10, GET20, GET30, TAKE10, SECRET10, TIKTOK20, TIKTOK30, and FNFAST. The naming tells you exactly what you're getting, and the majority work across the entire site with no restrictions. One code (FNAPP) is app-only.

SHEIN takes a different approach. Most of their codes are influencer codes — long strings tied to creator usernames like "CVCAamishaanagar964" or "26Hazrandmom686." A few are internal promos (LOUIE20, MAR0B30). The codes work, but they're harder to discover unless you follow the right creators. The upside: most apply to the entire site, and SHEIN adds roughly 41 new codes per month compared to Fashion Nova's 1, so fresh options rotate in more frequently.

"Storewide" means the code works on anything in the store — no category exclusions, no minimum purchase, no fine print disqualifying items in your cart. The more storewide codes a brand has, the less you have to worry about a code failing on specific items.

Does SHEIN or Fashion Nova's promo codes work more often?

Both brands have working codes — but how consistently do they hold up at checkout? We test codes continuously, and SHEIN holds a clear edge here.

Time WindowSHEIN Success RateFashion Nova Success Rate
Last 30 days52.7%43.0%
Last 90 days54.6%35.2%
Last 180 days60.3%21.5%

SHEIN's codes pass testing at a higher rate across every time window, and their reliability stays remarkably stable — hovering between 53% and 60% whether you're looking at 30 days or six months. Fashion Nova's codes tell a different story: they start at a decent 43% over the last month, but drop to just 21.5% over six months. That steep decline means Fashion Nova codes go stale faster. If you find one that's working, use it soon.

What discounts does SHEIN and Fashion Nova offer?

Fashion Nova wins on discount depth. Their codes follow a clear tiered system, while SHEIN's influencer codes offer more modest markdowns.

The best Fashion Nova code at any given time is typically 30% off, and our monthly data shows it has reached 40–50% off during peak promotional months. SHEIN's codes mostly land in the 15–20% range, with the occasional internal promo pushing to 30%.

On paper, SHEIN's lower base prices might still make it the cheaper order overall. But if you're comparing discount-to-discount on a percentage basis, Fashion Nova consistently gives you a bigger markdown.

Who offers more free shipping — SHEIN or Fashion Nova?

This is the most lopsided finding in the study. Since January 2023, we've tracked 40 months of promo code data for both brands. Fashion Nova had a free shipping code available in 24 of those 40 months — 60% of the time. SHEIN had one in just 9 months — 23% of the time.

The gap has gotten wider recently. In 2025–2026 alone, Fashion Nova has offered free shipping in 9 out of 16 months. SHEIN has offered it in 2 out of 16.

2025–2026 only (16 months)9 months (56%)2 months (13%)

If avoiding shipping fees is a priority, Fashion Nova is the significantly more reliable option. SHEIN shoppers should plan on paying for shipping in most cases unless they catch one of the rare months a free shipping code surfaces — historically most likely around October through January.

The best time to shop at SHEIN and Fashion Nova

Both brands run promotions year-round, but our monthly data reveals distinct seasonal patterns in when working codes are most plentiful and most generous.

Fashion Nova

Our data shows Fashion Nova's code availability peaks in October (avg 8.3 codes) and stays strong through February, August, and September (avg 7 codes each). But code count and discount depth don't always peak together — the deepest discounts appear in May through July, when the best available code averages 40–47% off.

December is the worst month to rely on Fashion Nova promo codes. Availability drops to an average of 2 codes and discount depth falls to roughly 17%.

Outside of promo codes, Fashion Nova runs major sitewide sale events that compound your savings. Black Friday typically brings 60–80% off with dedicated "$9 and Under" sections, and deals refresh multiple times over the long weekend. January post-holiday clearance hits hard on dresses, denim, and outerwear. Valentine's Day brings targeted promos on going-out styles. And year-round, Fashion Nova runs unannounced flash sales promoted through email and SMS — new subscribers get up to 50% off their first order, which stacks with the sale pricing.

One important note: Fashion Nova does not offer price adjustments. If an item drops in price after you buy it, you won't get the difference back. Timing your purchase matters.

SHEIN

SHEIN's code landscape is flatter by comparison. In the 2025–2026 period, code availability has been relatively steady at 7–20 codes per month with discounts typically in the 20–30% range. There's no single standout "best promo code month" the way Fashion Nova has.

Where SHEIN makes up the difference is through sale events and its loyalty points system. The April Anniversary Sale is one of the year's best windows — up to 80% off sitewide over 7–10 days. The November 11 Singles' Day global shopping festival features flash sales throughout the day with discounts averaging 60–70% off. And Black Friday is SHEIN's biggest event, with sitewide markdowns reaching 70–90% off plus app-only deals.

SHEIN's points program (100 points = $1 off) can be stacked on top of a promo code and applied to already-discounted sale items — creating a triple layer of savings that Fashion Nova's simpler code system doesn't offer.

Head-to-head: When to shop

How SHEIN and Fashion Nova promo code strategies differ

The numbers above tell one story. The strategy behind them tells another. These two brands approach discounting in fundamentally different ways.

Fashion Nova runs a simple, shopper-friendly system. A small set of reliable codes with intuitive names (GET10, GET20, GET30) that stay active for extended periods. You don't need to follow anyone or hunt through social media — the codes are predictable, memorable, and mostly storewide. The tradeoff is low turnover: Fashion Nova adds roughly 1 new code per month, so the selection doesn't change much.

SHEIN operates an influencer-driven code economy. The brand distributes unique codes to thousands of creators, each with their own discount tied to their username. New codes appear constantly — about 41 per month — but they're scattered across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, making any individual code harder to discover. SHEIN compensates with a loyalty points system (100 points = $1) that stacks on top of codes and sale prices, giving frequent shoppers a compounding discount that Fashion Nova doesn't offer.

There's no single winner — it depends on how you shop.

Choose Fashion Nova if you want the deepest percentage-off discounts from a promo code, reliable free shipping, and a simple code system you don't have to hunt for. Your dollar savings per order will typically be higher because the codes cut deeper and the free shipping removes a cost that SHEIN almost always charges.

Choose SHEIN if you want the lowest possible total at checkout. Their base prices are significantly cheaper, their codes work more reliably when you find them, and their points system lets you compound savings over time in a way Fashion Nova doesn't support. You'll spend more time finding codes, but you'll pay less per item before any discount even applies.

The best strategy for either brand: Time your purchase around their peak sale events (Fashion Nova in May–July and Black Friday; SHEIN during their April Anniversary Sale and 11.11), apply a working promo code from SimplyCodes, and — for SHEIN — stack your loyalty points on top.

Frequently asked questions

Does SHEIN or Fashion Nova have better promo codes?

It depends on what "better" means. SHEIN has more working codes (14 vs 10) and they work more reliably at checkout (53% vs 43% success rate). But Fashion Nova's codes offer deeper discounts — up to 30–40% off compared to SHEIN's typical 20–30%.

Does Fashion Nova offer free shipping?

Yes. Fashion Nova has had a free shipping code available in 56% of recent months, and one is currently active (FNFAST). They also offer free standard shipping on orders over $75 without a code.

Does SHEIN have free shipping codes?

Rarely. SHEIN has only had a free shipping code in 13% of months during 2025–2026. Your best odds are October through January, but it's not something to count on.

What is the best Fashion Nova promo code right now?

GET30 for 30% off sitewide is typically the deepest active code. TIKTOK30 offers the same discount. Both work sitewide with no minimum spend.

Can you stack promo codes on SHEIN or Fashion Nova?

Fashion Nova allows one promo code per order, though you can combine it with active sale pricing. SHEIN also allows one code per order but lets you stack it with loyalty points and sale prices for a triple layer of savings.

When is the best time to shop Fashion Nova?

May through July for the deepest promo code discounts (40–47% off). October for the highest code availability. November for Black Friday sitewide sales of 60–80% off. Avoid December — it's the weakest month for codes.

When is the best time to shop SHEIN?

SHEIN's code discounts don't vary much by month, so focus on their sale events: the April Anniversary Sale (up to 80% off), November 11 Singles' Day (60–70% off), and Black Friday (70–90% off).

Is SHEIN actually cheaper than Fashion Nova?

At base price, yes — significantly. SHEIN dresses start at $10–15 versus Fashion Nova's $25–35. But Fashion Nova's deeper promo code discounts (30–40% off) can narrow the gap on a per-order basis, especially when free shipping is factored in.

Methodology

This study is based on SimplyCodes' proprietary coupon verification database, which tracks promo codes across more than 300,000 active online merchants.

What "working" means in this study: All code counts, discount depths, and free shipping data refer exclusively to codes classified as "green" in SimplyCodes' health system — meaning they have been tested and confirmed working with a health score of 50 or above. Unverified, expired, and user-submitted codes that have not passed testing are excluded.

Code test success rate: The percentage of automated code tests in which a code achieved a health score of 50+ after testing. Reported at 30-day, 90-day, and 180-day windows. This measures how often codes from each brand work when tested at checkout — not just the codes currently marked as working, but all codes tested during that period.

Monthly trend data: Sourced from SimplyCodes' monthly coupon summary, which tracks healthy code counts after applying a health-decay model (1 point/day for evergreen codes, 2 points/day for non-evergreen codes). Monthly data in this study spans January 2023 through April 2026.

Base pricing: Product price ranges were sourced from direct observation of each brand's website and corroborated by third-party comparison reviews. Prices reflect typical ranges at time of publication and may fluctuate.

Sale event calendars: External sale event data was sourced from publicly available retailer information, CouponCabin sale schedule reports, and direct observation of each brand's promotional communications. Sale event timing reflects historical patterns and may vary year to year.

Limitations: This study compares the discount and promo code ecosystems of both brands. It does not evaluate product quality, sizing accuracy, shipping speed, or customer service. This study reflects data as of the publication date and will be updated periodically.
